Pandrol on track for more success in the Middle East.

Pandrol has a long established home market and also exports its products to more than one hundred countries around the globe. An impressive portfolio built up over many years of rail fastening supply to the railway industry. More recent successes include major new supply contracts with Iraq and Saudi Arabia, already long established markets for track maintenance supplies. Such major new projects have meant a large increase in the number of elastic fastenings required in these countries. These two major contracts have been won in the face of stiff competition from Germany, India and China.

The Iraqi Railways are rehabilitating and replacing large areas of their railway network and following successful trials of the PANDROL FASTCLIP elastic rail fastening, the Railway has adopted Pandrol fastenings as its standard. Pandrol are also supplying machines for the mechanical installation of the rail fastenings. Pandrol hope to develop more business opportunities in Iraq in the future as further track projects are approved.

Saudi Arabia is building a new Heavy Haul railway track in excess of one thousand kilometers long to transport phosphate and bauxite from large deposits in the north and centre of the country to the major new deep water port of Ra's Az Zawr on The Gulf.

Pandrol's experience in the development and supply of fastening components for Heavy Haul railways, where axle loads are in excess of 30 tonnes, has been a major consideration in the choice of rail fastening for such a demanding railway. Other major projects totaling more than 1200km of new track construction are under consideration in Saudi Arabia and the Pandrol company are eager to take advantage of such opportunities
