TRACKLAYING - PANDROL FASTCLIP
Use of Stressing Rollers

Pandrol Side-Rollers:

For use on curved sites during destressing, alongside under-rollers.

Method:

  1. Extract the FASTCLIPs to the parked position either by machine, or using the extraction tool
  2. Where rubber pads are used, list the rail and fit under-rollers (plate-rollers), between the rail pads and the rail foot at every 10th sleeper
  3. If the site is curved, fit the side support rollers adjacent to the unde-rollers on the inside of the curve, to maintain control of the rail laterally

Pandrol Under-Rollers (Plate-Rollers)

Fitted between the rail pad and rail foot during destressing to prevent movement of rail pad.

Method:

  1. Extract the FASTCLIPs to the parked position either by machine, or using the extraction tool
  2. Where rubber pads are used, life the rail and fit under-rollers (plate-rollers), between the rail pads and the rail foot at every 10th sleeper
  3. If the site is curved, fit the side support rollers adjacent to the under-rollers on the inside of the curve, to maintain control of the rail laterally

Vortok Stressing Rollers

Vortok's stressing roller (VSR) system is a very fast fit and fast removal roller system designed to reduce friction during stressing operations. So far, the system has been developed for FASTCLIP and 'e' Clip, but others to suit different rail fastenings will follow. The VSR replaces under-rollers and side-rollers and can be used on all rail profiles, curves, straights, cants etc on CWR irrespective of the sleeper material.

The system offers higher productivity with a significant reduction in manpower and achieves time-savings of up to more than two hours on a standard 900m stressing operation. The VSRs provide a very safe method of stressing with a hugely reduced risk of damage to hands and insulators. The use of rail hammers (sometimes used to overcome friction during under-roller operations) is now eliminated, as is the need to provide and carry rail jacks.
