PANDROL VIPA DFC

The Pandrol VIPA DFC System has been optimised for use in pre-cast blocks, sleepers and slabs. It is an economical, high performance solution for track where some noise and vibration mitigation is required.

PANDROL VIPA DFC has been designed for use on slab tracks where a typical vertical static stiffness of 20-25 kN/mm is required for applications on LRT, Metro, high speed and other non-ballasted tracks. For Heavy Haul applications a stiffer modified version of the system would be needed.

The Pandrol FASTCLIP fastening allows for efficient stressing and rail maintenance both of which are important when building and operating non-ballasted systems.

Pandrol VIPA DFC baseplates can be delivered to the track site fully pre-assembled on the pre-cast sleeper, block or slab.

The system is an adjustable indirect baseplate type, ideally suited for installation on pre-cast blocks, sleepers or slabs, but can also be installed by wet pour top down methods. Track / structure interaction can be accommodated by low toe load / rail free variants.

  • The Pandrol VIPA range of products uses 2 layers of resilience to provide attenuation of vibrations, 1 layer of resilience under the baseplate and a second layer under the rail.

    The VIPA DFC has been designed with pre-cast applications in mind. This has allowed the engineers to design the system economically using long proven embedded cast shoulder technology to transfer the lateral loading into the pre-cast element.

    The VIPA DFC system can also be installed using top-down, wet pour techniques but is optimised for pre-cast systems.

    As with all Pandrol VIPA systems, VIPA DFC exhibits a high level of electrical insulation through 2 levels of insulation, the rail being insulated from the baseplate and the baseplate being insulated from the concrete slab.

  • Fastclip Advantages

    Pandrol VIPA DFC utilises the Fastclip system which allows for efficient stressing and rail maintenance providing opportunities for savings during installation and maintenance of the tracks. Fastclip also provides opportunities for remote condition monitoring of the clips and is generally considered to be a very low maintenance system.

  • The Pandrol VIPA DFC system is ideally suited for LRT and Metro applications typically CEN CAT B according to EN 13481-5:2012. The cast in shoulder anchorage lends itself perfectly to the typical tight curves in LRT/Metro tracks as it resists the lateral forces.

    Cast shoulders have been used for many decades in extreme heavy haul applications in concrete sleepers in ballast and are extremely efficient in transferring the loads from the rail into the concrete.

    VIPA DFC is well suited for all types of LRT/Metro application, particularly where DC power is in use due to the high electrical insulation of the system at 2 distinct levels, 1 between the rail and the baseplate and a second level between the baseplate and the slab.

    The system is adjustable laterally and vertically, typically +/- 5 mm laterally per rail seat and + 20 mm vertically.

  • The Pandrol VIPA DFC system is suitable for Main Line (Passenger Freight) applications typically CEN CAT C according to EN 13481-5:2012. The cast in shoulder anchorage lends itself perfectly to the typical heavier axle loads and curvatures of this category of track.

    Cast shoulders have been used for many decades in extreme heavy haul applications in concrete sleepers in ballast and are extremely efficient in transferring the loads from the rail into the concrete.

    The system is adjustable laterally and vertically, typically +/- 5 mm laterally per rail seat and + 20 mm vertically.

  • The Pandrol VIPA DFC system is suitable for High Speed applications typically CEN CAT D according to EN 13481-5:2012 and for speeds upto 350 km/h.

  • At the beginning of any project we work closely to determine the most suitable product for the operating and environmental conditions. Pandrol VIPA DFC is suitable for use on some Heavy Haul projects subject to the operating parameters which would have to be reviewed.
