Monobloc Electrical Weld Shear EME1/EME2

The Monobloc Electrical Weld Shear EME1/EME2 is an electrical rail shearing machine designed to shear off the red-hot metal remaining around the rail head after aluminothermic welding of Vignole rails.

During aluminothermic welding, a deadhead of excess metal remains above the rail head. This was traditionally removed manually with a hammer and chisel. The Monobloc Electrical Weld Shear automates this process and removes the risk of damaging the rail.

  • Two hydraulically operated blades, on either side of the rail, move and cut off the excess metal.  The shear is powered by an embedded electrical hydraulic pump

Integral unit

The shear comes as an integral unit, with an embedded electrical hydraulic pump

Two versions

Available in two versions – The Monobloc Electrical Weld Shear EME1 is a narrow unit, able to operate in turnouts thanks to its small size. The EME2 is wider, bringing more comfort when shearing through the mould

Two hydraulic jacks

The shear is fitted with two hydraulic jacks that are able to produce a force of 21.5 tons under a pressure of 250 bars

Adjustable

Adjusting screws enable the blades’ height, lateral position and stroke to be fully adjusted

Locking systems

Locking systems fixed under the rail head prevent the shearing machine from rising up
