Pandrol, in Their Words...

Progressive, inclusive, credible and professional.

Career history

I built up a solid foundation in rail fastenings by spending several years as a Testing Technician within the Laboratory. This experience gave me the opportunity to become the company’s Laboratory Manager. After gaining eight years managerial experience, I was encouraged by Pandrol to progress towards my current role. They recognized my strengths, leading to the creation of a dedicated product support team which I now manage.

My role today

I manage three experienced engineers. Together, as a team, we support the delivery of new and existing products to track, primarily to customers who are unfamiliar with Pandrol. We use our knowledge to demonstrate all aspects of the innovative fastening system to companies including tie manufacturers and site contractors.

Challenges & achievements

The biggest challenge in my 29 years with the company has to be the transition between working as a Testing Technician to becoming the company’s Laboratory Manager. In terms of my biggest achievement – I have fond memories of being onboard the first train to pass over the Pandrol Vanguard system on the London Underground. This followed six years of extensive research and development working alongside our Technical Director.

Strengths & aspirations

In terms of my strengths, I’d like to think that I remain calm under pressure, am resourceful and I have good communication skills. I can harness my mechanical knowledge to the benefit of our customers and last but not least, I would say I am very honest and reliable.

Looking ahead, I hope to enjoy many more years working at Pandrol, leading the product support team. I would like to raise more awareness of the work my team does and the great customer service we offer – as I genuinely believe no competitor can match us!

Why Pandrol?

29 years says a lot! I love the diversity of the work I am involved with – no two days are ever the same. Pandrol allows any employee with ambition to fulfill their potential without prejudice – it’s not who you know it’s what you know. They have invested in me, they saw my potential, and for that, I am very grateful.

Life outside work

In my spare time, I like to travel, cycle and take part in outdoor pursuits.
