What is electrification?
Railway electrification systems supply electric line power to railway trains. Pandrol specialise in electrification systems which enable the power supply for rolling stocks on track.
So how is power supplied to each train?
- Electricity is generated in substations and then transmitted along the railway network via conductor rails that run along each track in the form of an overhead line.
- Pandrol offer a full range of solutions for track electrification, including aluminium conductor rail systems & rigid overhead catenary.

Designed for any rolling stock equipped with pantograph, our safe system interlocks with a range of existing maintenance depot equipment, including disconnectors, walkways, bridge-cranes, doors, signalling equipment and lifting platforms.

Our rigid catenary is suitable for tunnels (even small gauge) as well as outdoor installations, and works in any condition regardless of train frequencies, polluted air, saline atmosphere, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
