Pre-heating

Every rail weld begins with an aluminothermic preheat procedure that drives moisture out of the weld area and ensures a more consistent and robust result. The High Flow Preheater 36V automates this procedure end to end, cutting the manual work, training time and equipment weight your welding teams carry on site.

What are Pre-heating products and how do they work?

Much rail preheating equipment still relies on a welder's judgement for flame control and timing, which takes training and leaves room for error. The Pandrol High Flow Preheater 36V removes that variability for an automated weld preheat from ignition to timing and stop – so every weld gets the same, reliable preheat, whatever the conditions on site.

Product benefits

  • Accuracy and uniformity

The High Flow Preheater 36V's built-in timer preheats every weld to the same standard, every time. Accurate timing improves weld quality and reduces the risk of stress and defects.

  • Full preheat automation

Automated ignition, timing and stop make the HFP 36V simple to learn, so training new welders takes less time. Because preheating runs automatically, welders can prepare the next weld or move on to other tasks while it completes, adding a genuine gain in productivity.

  • Built for portability

The HFP 36V runs on propane alone, so there's no oxygen bottle to carry or manage on site. That's one less heavy item for your welders, adding comfort and making the equipment easier to work with wherever the job takes them.

Overview

An air-petrol preheating unit for aluminothermic welding, delivering precise rail end heating ahead of the weld. A Honda GX120QX engine drives a Roots airblower to produce a controlled air-fuel mixture, fed via a single outlet to the burner positioned in the mould. Approved by SNCF for use in France and export markets.

Overview

The HFP 36V uses propane rather than oxygen, keeping the equipment lighter and cheaper to run than traditional oxy-propane preheating methods. Its built-in timer presets accurate preheat timing for consistent results on every weld, and reduced sensitivity to pressure adjustment keeps the preheat uniform between the head and bottom of the rail.
