Career history

I am based at Pandrol’s site in Worksop, working as part of the global Marketing Function. Before working for Pandrol, I worked in a creative role producing visuals for catalogues selling furniture. When the opportunity arose to apply for a job at Pandrol, I thought I was applying for a job working for a local company that made something to do with trains! Little did I know that in six years I would progress from being Marketing Assistant to Marketing Coordinator and into the position I am today.

My role today

My main focus is to develop, deliver and measure the marketing activities for Pandrol. It is a varied role that involves organising and implementing a global events plan and strategy as well as thought leadership campaign development, developing compelling content to support the sales process and tactical marketing campaigns, reviewing and optimising new and existing marketing communication channels and supporting with the development of Pandrol’s web presence.

Challenges & achievements

A challenge in the early days was understanding the complexities of the rail industry. Now, it’s using the knowledge I have developed to constantly deliver improved and exciting marketing at the level required for an industry leading global business.

I like to take a step back to reflect on the achievements of the marketing team. At trade shows I usually take a minute to appreciate the work that has gone into the design and delivery of the stand, as well as the marketing collateral. I always feel a real sense of team spirit and pride which motivates me to constantly try to deliver my best.

Strengths & aspirations

I think my knowledge of marketing and communications along with my ability to project manage and deliver events makes me an asset to the Pandrol team. The marketing team is fairly small, so I believe collaborative working is at the heart of how we successfully deliver on projects.

As part of my career development Pandrol is supporting me to develop my marketing knowledge further, to the extent that Pandrol helped fund my CIM, resulting in me achieving Chartered Marketer status. In 2017, I completed a Level 4 CIM and this year I’m working towards Level 6 Accreditation. As Pandrol grows and the Marketing team with it, I am focused on a long-term future with the company.

Why Pandrol?

Quite simply – the people! Meeting people from Global Pandrol locations is one of the things I enjoy most about my job. Everyone is so friendly and supportive and even when language is a barrier the team finds a way to work together and communicate.

Life outside work

House renovation on my first property, being a listening volunteer for the Samaritans, attending marketing classes, friends and family, and binge watching Netflix!
