Pandrol, in Their Words...

Happy, structured, driven, progressive.

Career history

I started as a contractor 27 years ago when I worked for Jarvis as an Assistant Welder. To progress my skills and career, I joined Thermit Welding GB as a Welder, where my role expanded and I become a Trainer and Assessor, for 14 years. I moved to Renown Railway for four years, before joining Pandrol in 2018.

My role today

Overall, my role is to provide product support and to train as many people as possible, to give our customers the best care available. My responsibilities include providing customer service and responding to the changing needs of our business by implementing and promoting new processes, equipment and materials, in addition to training and carrying-out assessments.

Challenges & achievements

My biggest challenge to date has been becoming a vocational Trainer. Receiving my City & Guilds as a Trainer is also my greatest achievement and involved many hours of studying to gain the competence and confidence to stand in front of a room full of strangers and deliver training and demonstrations.

Strengths & aspirations

Patience, a good understanding of people and a love of the work that I do – all an absolute must when you train people. I continue to harbor and demonstrate a willingness to learn, aiming to improve what I do and teach others.

My future aspirations are to continue what I do, to the standard I do it, making Pandrol the number one welding process in the UK.

Why Pandrol?

Quite simply, because it’s a leader. It’s a fantastic business which is going places and as an employee you can feel the vibe of the ambition which makes it an enjoyable and exciting place to work. Whilst the size and stature of the company gives security, the opportunities to progress and contribute to daily decision-making exist.

Life outside work

I am a family man – being a parent keeps me incredibly busy and “on-my-toes”! I enjoy socialising and going to the gym where I keep myself fit. When I have time to relax, I really enjoy watching sports.
