What are Head wash repair products and how do they work?

Head wash rail head repair is an aluminothermic rail head repair process carried out using specially designed moulds. Because it's an in-situ rail repair method, you don't need to remove or replace the affected section of rail.

The process repairs railhead defects up to 80mm wide and with a maximum depth of 25mm and works on parent rail, electric flash butt welds, squats, transversal defects, shelling and corner gauge defects, meeting the requirements of modern rail networks.

Head wash repair welding repairs railhead defects up to 80mm wide and with a maximum depth of 25mm , depending on your rail profile. It's suited to transversal defects, shelling, corner gauge damage and squats, including those found on electric flash butt welds. Rather than replacing a full rail section, HWR lets you repair the damaged area in place, reducing possession time and cost.
