What are Equipment for rail stress management products and how do they work?
VERSE is a non-destructive instrument that measures the stress-free temperature (SFT) of continuously welded rail without cutting it. A clamp and built-in hydraulic jack lift a short, unclipped section of rail while load and displacement transducers record the force and deflection profile of the lift. A handheld computer combines this data with the ambient rail temperature and rail profile to calculate an instant SFT result trackside. Because VERSE measures stress-free temperature directly from the rail in track, it is unaffected by residual stresses from manufacture, making it reliable across mainline, high speed, heavy haul, light rail and metro networks.

Overview
Pandrol Stressing Rollers (VSR) lift unclipped rail clear of the sleeper using a self-locking arm, so it can be moved with very low friction during stressing. The Pandrol Vortok Stressing Roller removes the need for rail jacks or reaching under the rail, cutting a 900m stressing run by over two hours, bringing additional safety to the operators during destressing operations.
