We are proud to be donating €10,000 across three of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in line with Delachaux Group’s commitment to the United Nations Global Compact.
The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. A total of 17 goals have been designed to create a more sustainable future for all.
The money from Pandrol will be donated to three Global Impact funds: Quality Education (Goal 4), Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6), and Social Justice (Goal 16).
Goal 4: Quality Education
Following COVID-19 there has been a global education crisis, with school closures impacting the education of millions of children. It is hugely important that the next generation has access to quality education; the UN’s Global Impact Fund will contribute greatly to important work in this area.
There are several targets for this goal, including ensuring that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education by 2030.
Goal 6: Water and Sanitation
Safe water, sanitation and hygiene is the most basic human need that people should have access to; it is fundamental for health and wellbeing. However, it is currently estimated that billions of people will lack access to these basic services in 2030, unless progress increases four-fold.
One of the UN’s targets for Goal 6, is to achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
As of May 2022, the number of people forced to flee conflict, violence, human rights violations and persecution had surpassed 100 million.
Goal 16 is focused on providing access to justice, building inclusive institutions and promoting peaceful and inclusive societies. This means ensuring that communities feel safe and free from all forms of violence, whatever their ethnicity, faith or sexual orientation.
A key target for this goal is to significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere, and to ensure equal access to justice for all.
Kayleigh Clarke, Head of Marketing Communications & Brand at Pandrol, said:
“This activity aligns with our Pandrol Cares initiative, which focuses on education, reducing inequalities and climate action.
“We hope that the money we are donating will go some way to addressing the social needs and other challenges of communities around the world. We are a global business with a global purpose and these three UN Sustainable Development Goals align with our vision for a safer, better and fairer planet.”
