Record speeds for the Guangzhou Metro

Line 18/22 of the Guangzhou Metro Line is the north-south transport connection of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – China’s first full-length underground subway line, with speeds of up to 160km/h.

Construction has been underway since 2017, with a team effort from multiple participating units realising all elements of the project. Guangzhou Metro Line 18 successfully completed its speed test during the commissioning phase, reaching a top speed of 176km/h – China’s fastest ever metro test run.

As a standard-setter in the global fastening system industry, Pandrol is relentlessly focused on driving innovations in urban rail transit across the world. Since 2016, we have been working in partnership with the design and construction units of this project, organising in-depth technical exchanges and customising the Pandrol SFC to meet the Guangzhou Metro Line’s specific requirements.

Pandrol collaborated closely with all parties throughout the project’s implementation, providing reliable technology and safety guidance for the whole line. We hope that the 18/22 line will open as scheduled, and we will continue to focus on the developing trend of urban and municipal railway systems, bringing our 100 years’ experience to drive innovation for the future.
