Pandrol’s Track Geometry Trolley is a dedicated device for recording track gauge, cant, twist, distance, and GPS positioning of the track. It has been designed to be quickly and easily assembled on-site without the need for tools, instantly providing live data and allowing rapid identification of problems in the track.
Monitoring of track parameters is of high importance, both in terms of the railway operating safely and of achieving good levels of passenger comfort. For the best way of monitoring track parameters accurately and efficiently, you’ll need Pandrol’s Track Geometry Trolley.
Pandrol proposes a range of Track Geometry Trolleys suitable for various infrastructure and inspection requirements.
Pandrol’s Track Geometry Trolley can be broken down into parts and comes fitted with handles and bags. The accompanying Cyclic Top Measurement Device also breaks down into smaller parts and is fitted with handles, so you can transport the equipment with ease.
A GPS receiver ensures future recordings can be conducted at the same location, enabling accurate pre- and post-maintenance analysis and preventative maintenance of known problem sites. Our Track Geometry Trolley is a product you can trust.
The device is incredibly user-friendly, so your operators will only need limited training compared to when using traditional methods. The device’s LED lights and electrical non-conductivity are other notable features that help to make it a safer option for operators.
The Pandrol Track Geometry Trolley allows the operator to record track gauge, cant, twist, distance, and GPS positioning, while also flagging defects whilst recording. The device provides live data on-site, saving time for the user and enabling the rapid identification of problem areas.
With plastic wheels and a non-conductive insulation block between the wheel arm and contact bearings, the trolley is fully insulated and doesn’t create electrical contact between the two running rails.
The measuring device comes with a Panasonic tablet running a Windows operating system and track geometry software.
Track geometry data is saved as a .csv file that can be opened in MS Excel. Saved data and fault reports can be transferred from the tablet using a USB drive or email. Also, a precision GPS receiver ensures future recordings can be conducted at the same location.
The Track Geometry Trolley has two rechargeable batteries, accessed from the top of the device. This avoids costs associated with battery replacements.
The Track Geometry Trolley breaks down into five separate parts that fit into two storage bags for ease of transportation. This makes it more manageable and easier to move.
The trolley weighs 25kg, so we recommend that it should only be lifted by one person if they feel 100% able to do so. In most cases, the trolley will need to be disassembled and carried by two operators. Plastic lifting handles increase portability.
In cyclic top mode, the device measures left and right rails simultaneously. Cyclic top identification is at 4.5m, 6m, 9m, 13m, and 18m wavelengths.
Characteristics, metrics analysed, SonicVizio-WS-H is a lightweight system used in rail flaw detection on any type of track. Equipped with a 5 angled probe 40/70/0TR/40/70°,
it allows the detection and characterization of internal defects inside rail, weld and all components of the track.
Developed in partnership with Amberg Technologies, Pandrol’s GeoVizio-TR-Smart is a new smart track geometry trolley for measuring the quality of track. It is an innovative track geometry trolley that quantifies the condition of track and determines Track Quality Index, as required in the new European Standard EN 13848-6.
We offer a range of solutions for different applications, allowing the user to take height and distance offset readings from the running rails to a desired object or position such as a Platform or Datum Plate.
The entire portfolio of Overhead Line Equipment easily folds up, and is ergonomically designed.
The gauges have been designed with a sprung gauging foot, with all measurements being displayed on the end of the gauge, ensuring accurate measurements and minimising user error
This comprehensive test is carried out on the head, web and foot to provide a detailed analysis of the entire weld.
Ultrasonic rail testing is a full-track inspection solution that uses high-pitched waves to scan rails and identify internal flaws in need of repair. Pandrol teams are experts in the application of ultrasonic rail inspection, and our certified inspectors can provide comprehensive training tailored to your infrastructure, setting, and use case.
Identifying points of undulatory wear on the rail head will outline where grinding actions need to be taken to prevent further deterioration.
Pandrol VERSE® is a giant leap for track safety management, risk reduction and new track quality acceptance.
